Brand new £50,000 BMW plunges into canal after M6 pursuit

Police had to remove a brand new £50,000 BMW from a canal after it plunged off a bridge during a pursuit.

The driver smashed the white BMW car through a bridge before nose diving into the Lancaster Canal near Forton on Thursday (August 6).

The BMW, which looks to be an E92 M3, had been involved in a police chase on the M6 motorway near Preston.

Dramatic photos released by the police show the wreckage lodged in the water and being winched out.

Despite the front of the car being submerged in water, the two occupants of the vehicle managed to flee from the police on foot.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "This vehicle was involved in a pursuit on the M6 motorway yesterday.

"The two occupants managed to destroy a bridge before crashing into the canal at Forton.

"Two males are outstanding."

Investigating officers are now appealing for information and dash cam footage to track the men down.
