Braga make Rangers Europa League plea as Portuguese side request fans be let off work early

Rangers' Europa League opponents Braga have begged employers to let staff home early for Wednesday's second leg.

The Portuguese side took a 2-0 lead at Ibrox in the first leg last Thursday, but Steven Gerrard's men came back to win 3-2.

Ruben Amorim's side still have two away goals in their favour, and they're aiming to boost their home attendance by giving away free tickets and pleading for fans to be allowed to leave work early.

Braga said on their website: "The fans are always important, but in a game where we need to turn the result even more, the kick off time does not help and it is important that the city and region are mobilised for the game.

"The club has decided to introduce an initiative for the game against Rangers to allow students and children to enter for free. We want this message out to as many schools and colleges as possible.

"We would also suggest that it is a good opportunity for companies to come along to the game and allow their employees to leave their work early on Wednesday.

"Every supporter we have in the ground is important and works in our favour. Let's believe."

Amorim made eight changes from the side that lost at Ibrox, as Braga beat Vitoria de Setubal to hold on to third place in the Portuguese top flight.

He said after the match: "The players who won this match are to be congratulated. Just because most of them didn't play in Glasgow doesn't mean they were not tired.

"They still had to get on the plane to Scotland, train and do high-intensity training. So it was a fantastic effort by them.

"The only down side was the injury to Nuno Sequeira. Whether or not he will be fit for Rangers, I have no idea."
