Braga coach makes big Luis Diaz prediction after Liverpool transfer

New Liverpool signing Luis Diaz will be the just the right fit for Jurgen Klopp's side, according to Braga coach Carlos Carvalhal.

Colombian international Diaz put pen to paper on a long-term Anfield contract on January 30 and will arrive in Merseyside later this week after his country's World Cup qualifier against Argentina is concluded in Cordoba on Tuesday evening.

The 25-year-old has scored 14 times in 18 appearances in the Portugese Primeira Liga for FC Porto this season.

And Braga boss Carvalhal is backing him to make a big impact in the English Premier League.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Carvalhal said: "Luis Diaz is the best player in the league this season. He did something absolutely fantastic. He played on the left side with the right foot.

"He's a fabulous player. He scores goals. Very intense, especially in attack.

"All of us know the way that Liverpool play. How can I say? It's like when you have a number to your shoes (size) and you have number eight, for example, and you say this is exactly my number (perfect fit) - Luis Diaz to Liverpool.

"Because he's dynamic, he's fast, very strong in offensive transition. He's creative, he's very good one-to-one."

And Carvalhal predicted: "[Diaz] will be one of the stars of the league, especially next season."

Porto are currently riding high at the summit of the Primeira Liga, with a nine-point cushion over Sporting, having played a game more.

But they will have to finish the job off without their talisman, who will take over the number 23 jersey at Anfield when he eventually makes his eagerly-awaited debut for his new club, helping the Reds to continue to compete on four fronts.
