Bradley Welsh tribute plan as Hibs fans to honour Trainspotting star at Celtic game

Hibernian fans are planning to pay tribute to murdered Bradley Welsh at their game against Celtic on Sunday.

The 48-year-old, who starred in Trainspotting 2 , was gunned down outside his house on Chester Street at around 8pm on Wednesday evening.

Since his death tributes have poured in for the former boxing champion, charity worker and big Hibs fan.

Now one supporter has called on his fellow Hibees to join him in a minute's applause for Bradley.

Connaire Wallace wants fans to remember Bradley on the 48th minute at their game against Celtic at Easter Road this Sunday.

In a tweet Connaire, wrote: "Think it would be no less than Brad deserves to have a 48th minute applause this Sunday in our match against Celtic with “One Bradley Welsh” ringing around the stands."

Following the death of Bradley, police launched a murder inquiry into his death after he was shot at point-blank range by an assassin dressed as a jogger outside his Edinburgh flat.

Welsh  was shot  dead as he was chatting to a neighbour.

The gunman pulled a sawn-off shotgun or similar weapon from under his jacket before opening fire on the T2 Trainspotting star.

The former Hibs casual turned charity worker had received an “Osman” letter from Police Scotland. It warned him they believed there was a serious threat to his life.

Police and underworld sources have said they believe Welsh was murdered as a warning to notorious gangster Mark Richardson, who is in prison for his part in a violent crime gang operating across Scotland.

Richardson has been embroiled in an ongoing feud with a Glasgow-based crime gang, which we can’t identify for legal reasons.

It’s believed Welsh was Trainspotting star Bradley Welsh's criminal links are key to murder case, says ex cop to send a message to the coke baron.

A police source said: “Bradley was a known friend of Richardson’s and while he stayed away from the
criminality involved, it could be his association with Richardson and other criminal connections has cost him his life.

“One of Richardson’s other friends was attacked in his own home with machetes just recently. It could be his friends are being picked off one by one.

“Bradley was warned by police his safety was under threat and to take his security seriously.”

An underworld source said: “Bradley wasn’t involved in anything. He was more of a trying-to-keep-people calm type person and he was friends with Richardson and others.

“The feeling is he’s been an innocent victim in someone else’s war.”

Bradley played gangland kingpin Doyle in T2 and is pals with its author Irvine Welsh.

Welsh was a past British ABA Lightweight boxing champion and has run charity projects in the city to help young people stay fit and out of trouble through his Holyrood Boxing Gym.
