Bradley Welsh murder, and Edinburgh’s gang warfare that has erupted in the aftermath

Edinburgh man Bradley Welsh was shot and killed outside his home in April 2019 and a bloody gang warfare has since broken out on the streets of Edinburgh.

Sean Orman was convicted of the murder in May of this year and sentenced to 28 years in prison but a series of revenge attacks followed..

At the High Court in Edinburgh the judge said the murder was “meticulously planned assassination” following the 12 day trial.

During the trial Edinburgh man George ‘Dode’ Baigrie was named repeatedly as the one who ordered Orman to carry out the killing.

Subsequently, his friends have been reported to have been subject to various attacks in recent months.

The feud has seen blood spilled onto the pavements of the capital city on a number of occasions, both before and after the trial, but after sentencing things have escalated.

The Daily Record reported in March of this year of a man being viciously chased down in a car in the north of the city and then stabbed.

The victim hunted down in a terrifying high-speed chase by rivals who filmed it.

In the shocking video, a car can be seen racing after a motorcyclist with a passenger screaming, “We’re catching him. We’re catching him. Yas!”

After the trial in June one of Dode Baigrie’s friends, Jason Smith, was viciously assaulted with a machete.

Smith was left in a “critical condition” after being stabbed in the hands and at the base of his skull in a terrifying attack.

Sources said the 31-year-old was set upon by a pair of men on a motorbike who ambushed him on Whitehill Road near the Fort Kinnaird complex in front of passers-by.

Later that month another Dode Baigrie associate Russell Scammell was attacked by a man in a common stairwell in West Pilton Grove and left with life-changing injuries.

Scammel left with serious slash wounds to his head, shoulders, arms and legs following the ambush.

Three men were later charged and Police Scotland moved to reassure “members of the community that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider public.”

Then in May one of Dode Baigire’s close friends, James ‘Peem’ Davidson, was attacked with a machete.

Davidson was rushed to hospital following the broad daylight assault in Bingham close to his home.

A 57-year-old man also suffered injuries in the daytime assault.

In the latest attack the brother of Edinburgh gangster Mark Richardson was stabbed outside Tesco in Gracemount.

The Daily Record reported that the targeted attack had links to Bradley Welsh’s murder.

Mark Richardson and Bradley Welsh were thought to be very close friends but Richardson is said to be a sworn enemy of Dode Baigrie.

Officers have been carrying out enquiries into the stabbing, which is alleged to have seen Dale Richardson stagger through the Tesco car park on Gracemount Drive, leaving a trail of blood.

After the incident on Thursday, November 11, Richardson was taken to hospital for treatment.
