Bradley Welsh gunman jailed for minimum of 28 years for Trainspotting 2 star's murder and attempted murder

A gunman who murdered T2 Trainspotting star Bradley Welsh on his doorstep has been jailed for a minimum of 28 years for his murder.

Sean Orman was found guilty by a jury after a 12 day trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The 30-year-old gunned down Welsh, 48, who had just returned from his boxing gym to his home in the city’s New Town.

He was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for the attempted murder of Welsh’s long-time pal, David McMillan, 50, in a machete attack on March 15 that year.

The court was told David McMillan had returned from visiting cocaine baron Mark Richardson in Saughton Prison when he was attacked in his £1.7 million Morningside house.

Three men in balaclavas burst into McMillan’s home and savagely hacked at his head and body with a machete in front of his long term partner Emma, 46.

McMillan’s son, also David McMillan, 25, managed to fight off the intruders with a prop toy bat from the TV show The Walking Dead and they fled. Their Audi getaway car was torched a short time later in Oxgangs.

McMillan suffered a fractured skull and bleed on the brain and fled to Spain after being released from hospital.
