Bradley Walsh is astonished as Beat the Chasers contestant walks off with £40,000

Bradley Walsh was left in shock as a Beat the Chasers contestant walked off with £40,000, and joked she’d “scammed” everyone on the show.

The host, 61, welcomed contestant Robyn onto the show on Saturday, and she opted to play against all four Chasers to try and win the big jackpot.

Chatting to Bradley before she began playing, Robyn said she was due to appear on the hit ITV game show The Chase more than a decade ago.

“This is my second bite of the cherry – I should have been on The Chase 11 years ago,” she explained, as she then revealed her love for cats.

“2011 was a formative year for me. I travelled to Turkey in my car, I drove there – 2,500 miles,” she added, as the host quipped: “Turkey! I wouldn’t even drive to Torquay.”

Robyn shared more details of her pilgrimage, and said she had big plans if she won the £40,000 prize money.

“I used to love driving. I adore Turkish Van cats so I made it to Lake Van where my cats come from on my pilgrimage and I’ve been back in Wales four years now. But I want to buy another Turkish Van cat and I’d love to go to Australia,” she said.

Robyn asked to remain seated during the show as she was unable to stand for long periods, and the cat lover eventually banked the money with just seconds to spare during the heart-racing episode.

"You have no idea what it means to me,” a visibly emotional Robyn told Bradley and the Chasers.

"You know what Robyn I actually think we do,” Bradley replied. "That was the most extraordinary game."

"Pleasure meeting you all - such a wonderful experience whether I lost or won I had a great time,” she graciously told everyone.

However, she startled Bradley when she suddenly got off her chair and started walking off, leaving the host stunned.

Paul Sinah exclaimed: "It's a miracle!" as Bradley joked: "She completely scammed us all!"

"Oh, I need to sit down, 40 large ones, I’m getting a cat - off I go,” he teased while impersonating Robyn.

Viewers took to social media to share their adoration for the contestant, with many agreeing that she deserved to win.

"Yes ROBYN… Thoroughly deserved… She wasn't sat down for long when she realised she'd won #beatthechasers @ITV,” one wrote.

"Exactly what we just said about the contestant on #BeatTheChasers need to sit then wins £40K and legs it!!" another joked.

"Aw so happy for Robyn!” one viewer tweeted, as one fan wrote: "And Bradley’s little bit afterwards was priceless #beatthechasers fantastic show."

Beat the Chasers airs on ITV, Saturday at 9pm.
