Bradley Walsh will be starring alongside his real-life son in a reboot series of The Darling Buds of May.
The 60-year-old star of The Chase is set to act in front of 23-year-old son Barney in the new ITV drama – reuniting father and son on screen following their hit ITV travel show Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad.
Bradley has been cast to play Sidney Charles "Pop" Larkin – made famous by David Jason in the original 1990s TV series.
While Barney is set to play a village policeman in the reboot – which has been reported in some outlets as being titled The Larkins.
According to The Sun, ITV bosses are keen to recreate the success of Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad by casting both lads in the new show.
A source told the publication: “Their adventures gained around 5million viewers an episode, and producers hope to bring some of that audience to The Larkins.”
While the makers are also banking on viewers having a hunger for nostalgia by resurrecting the series which originally ran from 1991 to 1993.
The source said: “Pairing Bradley and Barney adds to the growing anticipation for this reinvention of a show which holds a special place in the hearts of a generation of viewers.”
However, it won’t be the first time Bradley and Barney have acted opposite each other.
Both previously featured in the 2013 series of Law & Order: UK.
The Darling Buds of May ran for three seasons and 20 episodes in the 1990s and helped propel Welsh beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones to stardom.
The 51-year-old played Mariette Larkin, the eldest daughter of the Larkin family, in the show.
While Pam Ferris played her on-screen mother, Florence Daisy "Ma" Larkin.
Bridgerton star Sabrina Bartlett is set to play Mariette in the reboot – while Joanna Scanlan is to play Ma Larkin.
