Bradley Walsh reveals he needs surgery on his eyes and takes medication every day

Bradley Walsh has spoken out about living with a distressing condition that can see people wake up with their eyelids stuck together.

The Chase host has revealed that the 'puffy face' fans often see when he's hosting the ITV show is actually casued by "seriously bad" blepharitis.

And even though the 61-year-old is adored by fans of the show, he said they often don't realise he struggles with the condition.

As reported in the Daily Star, side effects of the medical condition can leave Bradley's face looking puffy on air.

In an interview on This Morning, he said: “People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis.

“I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out.

“So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don’t realise. If I take medication though, I’m fine.”

Prior to this, Bradley previously opened up about his condition on This Morning in 2017 with hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

He told the couple that blepharitis causes red, swollen, itchy eyelids and flakes or crusts at the base of the eyelashes.

In extreme cases, sufferers of the condition can worryingly wake up with their eyelids completely stuck together.

While blepharitis isn’t life-threatening, it can often lead to dry eyes, cysts and conjunctivitis.

Though it can normally be treated by washing your eyelids every day.

Bradley has also suffered from another health scare that led to him losing 10lbs.

Shortly after the star's 60th birthday, Bradley shared the news that doctors had given him a serious warning and urged him to lose weight.

The former soap star told The Sun: “I was a time bomb. I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer.”

“I thought, ‘Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this’.”

Following professional advice, Bradley, who weighed 14st 9lbs, lost just under one stone to help improve his health.
