Bradley Walsh hides behind Welsh The Chase contestant in fear that Chaser will 'start on' him

The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh was left hiding behind a Welsh contestant during Thursday's, February 23 edition of the popular ITV quiz show. The hilarious moment came after Bradley insulted Chaser Shaun Wallace's book.

Introducing the line-up of Chasers, Bradley said: "Perhaps we're taking on the Dark Destroyer. His book does have a sad ending - usually landfill." But much to the 62-year-old's surprise, contestant Nathan, from Bridgend, said he had read the book and hoped he was taking Shaun on.

"You mentioned his book, I've actually read it and it is quite inspirational," Nathan told Bradley, who then cheekily asked: "Have you been drinking?"

After Shaun made his entrance, Bradley sheepishly jumped behind Nathan. Speaking directly to the contestant, Shaun joked: "You've read my book, have you? Congratulations you're through, well done."

Bradley, meanwhile, said: "Don't let him start on me. Nathan, don't let him start on me." The Welsh contestant replied: "I've got your back, Brad."

Bradley sought protection from Bridgend player Nathan (ITV)

To the presenter's amusement, Nathan added: "If you're relying on me to have your back then you're in trouble," which saw Bradley quickly walk back behind his podium.

The round, itself, was a strong one for Nathan. He managed to put £5,000 in the cash-prize pot and secured himself a place in the final chase alongside his team.

Playing for a combined amount of money £6,000, Nathan and fellow contestant Tony only managed to get a score of 14 in the final chase. Despite four pushbacks, they were beaten by Shaun with only four seconds to spare.

The Chase airs on ITV1 on weekdays at 5pm. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
