Bradley Walsh 'breaks rules' by asking axed contestants for help in The Chase first

In an ITV show first, The Chase host Bradley Walsh chose to shun the programme's rules by asking axed contestants for help.

During Tuesday night's episode (Tuesday, February 4), viewers witnessed Bradley lend a hand to lone contestant Rob by helping him decide which jackpot to choose.

In a first for the evening quiz show, he shouted to contestants who failed to go through to the final round, asking them which amount of money Rob should accept.

Many co-stars were left shocked and amused, with Rob, 36, from North Yorkshire, unable to contain his laughter at the 59-year-old's antics.

It came after the three other hopefuls were booted out of the competition, leaving Rob the only one on the team to go up against The Sinnerman, Paul Sinha.

After winning £5,000 in the cash-builder round, Rob was then offered either £1,000, £5,000 or a whopping £80,000 to play for.

Unsure which chunk of money to choose and with no other contestant left to ask advice from, Rob struggled to make up his mind.

Feeling the pressure of being the only contestant left, Rob joked: "Shall I ask my team?"

However, Bradley decided to lend him a hand by asking the axed contestants standing in the wings what Rob should do next - something which hasn't happened on the show before.

Placing his hands either side of his mouth, Bradley shouted towards the previous hopefuls who were watching from afar" "What do you reckon he should do?"

Someone then shouted back: "Go high."

Rob replied: "I probably wasn’t going to go high, my wife said not to go high, I’m going to go high."

It didn't take long before it looked like Rob was on course to make history when he set a target of 11 points for Paul to beat.

As they went to the break Bradley even said: "Rob could be about to make history."

Unfortunately, Paul managed to beat Rob with 45 seconds to spare.

Many viewers tuning in from home took to social media to praise Rob for his efforts.

One tweeted: "Shame he didn’t get the 80k, he needed at least 1 other person in the final chase to stand a chance."

Another added: "Well played Rob! Brave effort indeed."

"Oh dear.....he really should have got at least five more....over thought too many questions," a third wrote.
