Bradley Stoke woman pleads guilty to cruelty to child charge

A Bradley Stoke woman has admitted causing cruelty to a child.

Annmarie Austin, 25, of Saxon Way appeared at Bristol Crown Court today (August 17) and pleaded guilty to a charge of causing cruelty to a person aged under 16 on May 24, 2018.

Edward Hetherington, prosecuting, told the court a basis of plea has been submitted and asked for time to properly reflect it.

He said it is an old case and new information has been received by the prosecution.

Judge Michael Longman said the prosecution should give its response to the basis of plea by August 28.

Anjali Gohil, defending, asked that her client's bail be continued but did not request a pre-sentence report.

The judge told Austin: "You have pleaded guilty on a basis.

"The prosecution wishes to consider whether you should be sentenced on that basis or not."

The judge adjourned the case to September 11, when Austin may be sentenced.

She was allowed to remain on bail.
