Bradley Roby knows his future with Broncos is uncertain

Bradley Roby may have played his last down with the Broncos.

Roby’s about to become an unrestricted free agent and there’s no guarantee Denver will re-sign him for a sixth season — and he knows it.

“I am just taking it one day at a time,” Roby told media members after the team’s season finale on Dec. 30, a 23-9 loss to the Chargers. “These things will just get figured out as time goes on so I’m just thinking about right now and all the plays in the game, so we will see.”

Roby was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft out of Ohio State. Playing behind Aqib Talib and Chris Harris for the first four years of his carer, Roby was an excellent third-string cornerback.

After Denver traded away Talib, though, Roby became a starter last season and he didn’t quite live up to his $8.526 million salary. In 15 starts, Roby recorded 50 tackles and one interception. His overall numbers weren’t bad, but he was out of position in coverage more often that fans would have liked.

Roby will become a free agent when the new league year begins in March. It remains to be seen if the Broncos will try to re-sign him.
