Bradford City midfielder has injury blow confirmed ahead of Bolton Wanderers clash

Bradford City midfielder Harry Pritchard could have played his final game this season after it was confirmed he will have to undergo surgery ahead of this weekend's clash against Bolton Wanderers.

The Trotters travel to Valley Parade this weekend aiming to extend a winning run of six games which has taken them into the League Two play-offs.

The Bantams too are in a good run of form, having won their last five games on the trot.

But Bradford midfielder Pritchard will not be involved in the clash this weekend after Bantams joint boss Conor Sellars confirmed he will be out for the season due to a back injury.

He told the Telegraph & Argus : “He’s been to see a specialist and they are going to be able to sort out his injury. The bad news is that he’s going to be out for a period of time.

"He is going to undergo surgery which will probably put him out for the rest of the season.

“The communication is key from the staff at the club in making sure he feels that we’re there to look after him and support him in the good times and the bad.”

The midfielder has turned out 21 times this season for Bradford, including against Bolton in the Yorkshire side's 1-0 loss to Wanderers in late October.

Bantams striker Danny Rowe is looking forward to this weekend's clash and knows what it is like to come up against Ian Evatt's side, having played against them this campaign for Oldham Athletic.

Now with Bradford, Rowe believes it will be the biggest test he has encountered since moving to Valley Parade.

He said: "It’s a great game to be involved in. Everyone will look forward to it. It’s going to be a test and a good football game because they want to play.

“I know the manager really well personally and from playing against his teams. He wants to play football.

“I played against him for Oldham earlier in the season and we actually won. But they were better for large periods of the game.

“Knowing him and how his teams play, he hadn’t been there that long at the time and they hadn’t really clicked.

“But you could see what he was wanting to do – and now he’s doing it.

“Before there, he was at Barrow and did a great job. Now he’s gone to a bigger club and he’s doing the same sort of thing.

“But it’s great for us and we want to keep our run going.

“It’s probably the biggest test since I’ve been at the club and a challenge you look forward to.”
