Six people from the NSW Covid lockdown area were escorted by police out of the ACT on Saturday night as dozens of others were detected at a Braddon hotel in direct breach of quarantine, stay-at-home orders in their home state.
Police confirmed that four adults and two children were spoken to and escorted out of the territory around 9pm on Saturday.
The six were among 50 guests from the Greater Sydney area found at the Braddon hotel.
All had been in the Greater Sydney area since June 21 and did not have exemptions to be in the ACT.
All were ordered to return to their homes on Sunday morning.
The Deco luxury hotel is understood to be the location of the Braddon breach.
It is not known at this time whether all 50 were part of the same group.
The ACT government has not yet detailed how it would respond directly to this latest development, which represents a significant escalation in the health risk to territory residents from people leaving the specified NSW local government areas in lockdown.
Non-ACT residents who have recently been to Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour require an exemption to legally enter the ACT and can face penalties of up to $8000 if they are caught in the ACT without one.
Police are now considering what further action would taken against those detected in the Braddon breach.
