Brad Wanamaker returns to lineup vs. Blazers as Terry Rozier sits out

Per Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, point guard Brad Wanamaker will suit up for the Celtics on Wednesday night after recovering from an illness that kept him out of Tuesday night’s contest against the Toronto Raptors.

In fact, with Celtics backup point guard Terry Rozier out against the Portland Trail Blazers after aggravating a tendon in his knee during the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s blowout loss to Toronto, Boston may have been more keen on having Wanamaker return to the lineup.

With both Wanamaker and Rozier out, the Celtics would have only had one healthy point guard on the roster and Stevens may have had to make an adjustment to the starting lineup.

Wanamaker, a decent playmaker who has been efficient and effective on both ends in the limited minutes he’s played for Boston this season, will test the Blazers perimeter defense when he’s on the court. He has season-highs (and thus career-highs) of 13 points and four assists, set against the Brooklyn Nets on January 14, a night in which he played 25 minutes as a reserve.
