Brad Stevens provides injury update on lottery pick Romeo Langford

It’s been tough sledding for Boston Celtics rookie swingman Romeo Langford, the 14th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

After initially missing the league’s annual Summer League circuit while rehabbing a surgically-repaired thumb before missing the start of training camp with a strained groin. Langford then missed the preseason finale against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Oct. 15 after spraining his knee against Cleveland on Oct. 13.

However, after sitting out Thursday’s scrimmage while continuing to rehab his knee — working on a bike while his teammates played in live action — Celtics head coach Brad Stevens provided an injury update on Langford following Friday’s practice.

“He’s moving pretty well. Looking pretty good,” Stevens started. “We hope he’ll be cleared for at least full practice by Monday.”

The Celtics play their first regular season game of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 23, against the Philadelphia 76ers. A division rival and one who stole a prized free agent, veteran big man Al Horford, from Boston in the offseason.

Langford may be ready for the regular season by the opener but, even if he is, there’s a chance that he may not get many minutes.
