Not that we were expecting him to go anywhere any time soon, but Boston Celtics head coach just signed a contract extension with the team according to a press release circulated by the team.
Stevens, now in his seventh season with the Celtics after being plucked out of the college ranks from Indiana’s Butler University, was named to that post on July 3rd, 2013, becoming the 17th coach in franchise history.
He currently owns a a 318-245 record (.565) over more than six seasons with Boston, and he stands in fourth place in overall wins for the club all-time, trailing only Red Auerbach (795) Tommy Heinsohn (427) and Doc Rivers (416).

“Brad is an accomplished coach and an outstanding person,” offered Boston Celtics Lead Owner?Governor Wyc Grousbeck in the press release. “We are proud to have him lead our team forward in our quest for Banner 18.”
“Brad is one of the most intelligent and hard-working coaches in the game today,” added team president Danny Ainge.
“More importantly, his character and integrity have contributed to a culture that we all highly value here. Brad is a great teammate, and a leader people want to follow. We are honored to have him with us as we continue to pursue our next championship.”
Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not discussed, so we’ll have to wait and hope details are leaked to get a better idea of just how long the team and Stevens agreed to commit to one another.
