Brad Pitt 'skipped BAFTAs to be with daughter after surgery' amid family health crisis

Brad Pitt reportedly skipped the BAFTAs earlier this year to be with one of his daughters after she underwent surgery.

The Hollywood actor, 56, missed the ceremony in London and it's now been reported he chose to stay in the US to support his family after two of his girls had operations.

He originally cited a "family obligation" for his decision to skip the event, and now a source told New York Post gossip column PageSix that Brad was by his daughter's bedside.

The insider added: "The children come before anything."

It comes after the family health crisis was revealed by Brad's ex-wife Angelina Jolie , who confirmed the former couple's eldest daughter Zahara, 15, has been "in and out of hospital" over the last few months for a series of operations.

In an essay written for Time magazine, Angelina went to reveal her younger daughter Shiloh, 13, also had to be admitted to hospital for a hip op.

She explained: "I have spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter and days ago watched her younger sister go under the knife for a hip surgery.

"I have watched my daughters care for one another. My youngest daughter [Vivienne] studied the nurses with her sister, and then assisted the next time.

"I saw how all my girls so easily stopped everything and put each other first, and felt the joy of being of service to those they love.

"They understand that going through medical challenges and fighting to survive and heal is something to be proud of."

Angelina added her sons Knox, 11, Pax, 16, and Maddox, 18, were "supportive and sweet" but addded: "But on this International Women’s Day, writing from the hospital, I find myself focusing on my daughters for a moment."

Brad Pitt won the best supporting actor gong at the BAFTAs for his role in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and his co-star Margot Robbie collected the gong on his behalf.

He has four adopted children with Angelina, Zahara, Pax and Maddox and three biological offspring, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox.

The stars married in 2014 and divorced two years later.
