Brad Pitt scoops Golden Globe and gushes over Leo DiCaprio with cheesy Titanic joke

At the Golden Globes on Sunday night, Brad Pitt took home Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

In the Quentin Tarantino film, Brad played Cliff Booth alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

And he used his acceptance speech to gush over Leo, who he called his "partner in crime".

He referenced Leo's stint as an Oscar loser, regularly nominated but never winning until The Revenant in 2016.

Brad said: "I had to watch, year after year, his co stars accept awards and get up and thank him profusely.

"I know why. He's an all-star. He's a gent.

"And I wouldn't be here without you, man. Thank you."

The camera panned back to Leo, who beamed and mouthed "thank you" at Brad.

Brad then joked about Leo's role as the ill-fated Jack in Titanic.

He claimed that he would have shared the raft with Leo, alluding to the scene where Rose stays afloat in the sea on a door, while Jack remains in the freezing water.

Brad also urged the Golden Globes guests to "take a chance to be kind to someone tomorrow".

"Take it, I think we need it", he said.

Meanwhile, Joaquin Phoenix scooped Best Actor in a Drama for his titular role in Joker.

He expressed his appreciation for the fact it was a vegan meal, saying: "Thank you for recognising the link between animal agriculture and climate change, it was a bold move making tonight plant basted and sends a powerful message."

He added: "Contrary to popular belief, I don't want to rock the boat, but the boat is f***ed.

"It's really nice that so many people have come up and sent their well wishes to Australia but we have to do more than that.

"It's such a beautiful gesture and I have not always been a virtuous man. I'm learning so much and so many in this room have given me multiple opportunities to get it right and I'm deeply grateful, but hopefully together we can get unified and make some changes.

"It's great to vote but sometimes we have to take the responsibility and make changes in our own life.

"We don't have to take private jets to Palm Springs to the awards sometimes."
