Brad Pitt's lawyer slams Angelina Jolie and vows he'll respond to 'abuse' claims in court

Brad Pitt's legal team have taken a swipe at Angelina Jolie and vowed the actor will respond to allegations he 'choked' one of their kids and 'strangled' another in court.

Pitt's lawyer Anne Kiley said the Fight Club star has been on the receiving end of "every type of personal attack and misrepresentation" in the six years since he split with Angelina.

In a swipe at the actress, Kiley said Brad had owned everything he's responsible for from day one 'unlike the other side.'

It comes after Jolie made a legal filing claiming her estranged husband was verbally and physically abusive towards his family on a plane in September 2016.

The former couple share six children together, with them parents to Maddox, now 21, Pax, now 18, Zahara, now 17, Shiloh, now 16, Knox, now 14 and Vivienne, now 14.

Documents alleged that among other things, the actor had "poured beer and wine" over the heads of the children and "choked" one of them.

"Brad has owned everything he’s responsible for from day one – unlike the other side – but he’s not going to own anything he didn’t do," said Kiley.

Speaking in a statement to US news outlets yesterday, she added: "He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation.

"Thankfully, the various public authorities the other side has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions.

"Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done."

Jolie filed for divorce five days after the alleged incident in 2016 before an FBI investigation was launched.

Sources close to Brad have claimed that Angelina – to whom he was married from 2014 to 2019 – is on a "smear campaign" against him, rehashing allegations she's made for years.

They told TMZ that her repeated attempts to portray him as a child abuser have taken an "extreme toll" on their six children.

The pair continue to be embroiled in a dispute centred around the sale of their stakes in Chateau Miraval SA, a French company comprising a home and vineyard in the south of France, which they purchased in 2008.

Pitt has previously accused Jolie of orchestrating a "hostile" takeover of the wine business that he had "carefully built" and forced him into partnership with "a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions" – Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.

The Miraval estate is located in the village of Correns in south-eastern France, and was bought by the couple for around 25 million euros (£20,875,500).

According to the legal documents obtained by PA, Pitt contributed 60 per cent to the purchase price, with Jolie paying the remaining 40 per cent.
