'Brad Pitt for Mayor' T-shirts have sprung up across New Orleans over the past two months, raising the prospect that the actor may enter political life. Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie bought a home in the city in 2007 and have been advocates for rebuilding homes in the lower ninth ward, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The actor has laughed off the possibility of running for New Orleans mayor next year but even if he wanted to, he wouldn't qualify because he hasn't lived in the city for years
In 2007 Oklahoma-born Pitt and partner Angelina Jolie bought a house in New Orleans and the couple has worked to rebuild areas in the lower ninth ward ravaged by Hurricane Katrina through the charity Make it Right. When asked about a possible mayoral run on NBC's Today programme this morning, the actor laughed and said: "I don't have a chance." He also doesn't have the proper residency status. The man who acted with a chimpanzee in Bedtime for Bonzo proved his doubters wrong, winning the California governship and ulitmately the presidency.
