Brad Pitt buys £8m house from The Killers rocker on same day his mother dies - two months after break-in

Brad Pitt has reportedly bought an £8.85 million Hollywood Hills mansion from The Killers guitarist Dave Keuning -two months after his home was broken into.

The Oscar winner, 61, closed the deal on the six-bedroom Spanish-style home on August 5, the same day his beloved mother Jane Etta Pitt died aged 84.

Brad got the house for lower than the asking price, with rocker Keuning and his wife Emilie initially listing it for £10.3 million back in June, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The 8,385 square foot abode is in the Outpost Estates community and has views of Los Angles as well as the Pacific Ocean.

It was built in 1989 and has eight bathrooms, a barbecue, a huge terrace that looks out on the back garden and an outdoor swimming pool.

The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star’s mother Etta died the day of the sale, with her granddaughter Sydney Pitt paying tribute to her.

“My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier,” she wrote in the caption.

“If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.

“She taught me how to paint, how to be strong, how to lead with kindness, to love Jesus through everything, and to find joy in the smallest things.”

Sydney concluded the post: “We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us.”

A former school counsellor, Jane Etta married her husband William Alvin Pitt in 1962, and they had three children, the eldest being Brad.

Brad’s big Hollywood Hills purchase comes after his £4.35m home in Los Felix was “ransacked”.

The Fight Club star - who is dating Ines de Ramon - was on a press tour in Japan at the time to promote his new F1 film.

The suspects gained access by shattering a front window, searched through the home, and fled the scene with an undisclosed number of stolen items, according to the LAPD.

Three people suspected of burglarizing the star's home have been taken into custody, NBC LA reported.

The burglary is the latest in a series of high-profile incidents targeting celebrity homes in the city - other recent victims include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Austin Butler and LAFC footballer Olivier Giroud.

Earlier this year, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s home was also reportedly broken into during daylight hours.

The LAPD’s Chief of Police revealed residential burglaries in the city have risen by 4% in 2024, according to NBC News.

More than half of the cases involved private homes similar to the one linked to Brad.
