Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's cavalry

Military news now, as the child army being amassed by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt graduates from footsoldiers to cavalry. According to reports, Brad has bought each of the couple's six children a Shetland pony.

Of course, we already knew that Angelina has begun the business of arming her troops, after a 2008 interview in which she declared she had bought knives for her then seven-year-old son Maddox. "We take him to a special shop," she announced to W magazine, in an interview to accompany some photos Brad had taken of her breastfeeding. "We also talk about samurais and about the idea of defending someone as good. We talk about everything."

They are hilarious, aren't they? Given that we civilians will be enslaved by celebrities eventually – I've seen Planet of the Apes; I know what goes on – I can think of no better way to go than at the hands of Brad and Angelina's pint-sized samurai unit, whirling their little swords over their heads as they advance. Consider them a sort of PCP-inspired Thelwell cartoon, and sit back and await the clatter of little hooves.
