Brad Lyons announces he is to leave Blackburn Rovers

Brad Lyons has announced he is to leave Blackburn Rovers.

The former Coleraine midfielder posted an update on his social media on Friday.

Lyons, who joined Blackburn from Coleraine in January 2019, is currently on loan at League Two club Morecambe.

He said: "Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and after 3 great seasons my time at Blackburn Rovers is over!

"Just want to say a massive thanks to Blackburn Rovers as they were the club to show faith in me and give me the opportunity at full time professional football.

"To all the staff, coaches and players thank you for welcoming me to the club and helping me improve not only as a player but a person and I wish you all the success in the future."

Lyons made over 90 appearances for Coleraine during a five-year spell at the Showgrounds before joining Blackburn on loan in August 2018.

He signed a permanent 18-month contract in January 2019 and also spent time on loan at Scottish club St. Mirren who were then managed by Oran Kearney.

As for the future, Lyons says he will wait until the end of the League Two play-offs which Morecambe are involved in.

They have a semi-final showdown with Tranmere Rovers over two legs to see who plays either Newport County or Forest Green in the final.

"On a personal note I can't wait to see what the future holds but for now all my focus is with Morecambe and the play-offs," Lyons added.
