Bracketology on ice: Where Ohio State hockey stands in the projected NCAA field

It’s that time of year. The calendar is getting closer to flipping the last few days of February over on the way to all the madness of March. But it’s not just basketball. College hockey is also adhering to a similar timeline, and we’ve got bracketology happening in the deep freeze as well.

And in case you’ve missed it, the Ohio State men’s hockey team is having a whale of a season — literally running away with the Big Ten regular season title. Heading into last week, the Buckeyes had nearly played themselves into a projected No. 1 seed in the Frozen Four NCAA Tournament, but it got swept by Minnesota, so things have changed.

Ohio State is now projected as a No. 2 seed.

The Buckeyes still have everything in front of them, and if they can run to a Big Ten Tournament title to couple the regular season title it’s on the verge of clinching this weekend, then it can play itself back into consideration for that top line.

Ohio State will have a chance to improve its standing this weekend with a two-game series against That School Up North. Any sort of win will clinch the regular season conference crown, and we’ll continue to keep an eye on where the projections go from here.
