Bra fitter for plus-size women swears by important measurement hack for perfect fit

Finding the perfect bra can sometimes feel like an impossible task. Either the underwire feels like it's digging in a little too much, or the straps aren't sitting right on your shoulders, or maybe it's the back size that's feeling too slack or snug.

Thankfully, a plus-size womenswear expert has talked through a simple guide to getting the bra fit right every time, specifically for 'plus-size breasts'.

The bra fitter works for North Carolina-based plus-size retailer Juicy Body Goddess and she spends her days helping curvy customers find their 'perfect bra'. She urges people to follow three key steps to ensure new underwear seekers are pleased with their well-fitting and comfortable bra.

In a video posted to the @juicybodygoddess TikTok page, the bra fitter explained: "To size plus-size breasts is a little bit different."

She said you need to 'have your tape measure flush against the skin' to measure the back size of the bra, then you need to lift up your breasts to get an accurate reading of the band size.

She explained: "If you get the underside of the boob you are not going to get a correct read."

Once you've figured out your band size, you need to move on to the bust size, which is your cup.

"Once you have your band size you want to go up over the bust to the biggest part and then you are going to get a size", she explained.

"This is the most important part, this is how you find your cup size. Each inch is a cup. A, B, C, D, DD, DDD, F." In the UK, a DDD would equate to an E-cup.

She also explained at the end of the video that they fit bras for free every day of the week, similar to bra retailers in the UK.

In the comments, people were saying they'd used this trick and found out their real bra size and were so grateful for the better fit.

One wrote: "Yeah I got mine done. I've been wearing a 38DD and felt so uncomfy because it turns out I'm a 36G."

"Loveeee this whole video! So informative and caring..your shirt is amazing!!!!", someone praised.

Another TikToker gushed: "Are we not going to talk about how comfortable she made ME feel and I ain't even there? Can only imagine how comfortable the customer is honestly!"
