BP statement amid reports of fuel shortages in Nottingham

A petrol company has issued a statement following reports of supply shortages at a Nottingham station.

It was reported a number of pumps were closed off at around 11am on Thursday, September 23, with just a few petrol and premium pumps still open at a BP fuel station in Wollaton.

BP explained how delays in the supply chain had been impacted by the industry-wide driver shortages and deliveries to motorway service areas will be prioritised.

A number of sites will be temporarily shut while the UK-wide company are taking "many actions" to address the issue. The company did not name any individual stations affected.

A spokesperson for BP fuel said: “We are experiencing some fuel supply issues at some of our retail sites in the UK and unfortunately have therefore seen a handful of sites temporarily close due to a lack of both unleaded and diesel grades.

"These have been caused by some delays in the supply chain which has been impacted by the industry-wide driver shortages across the UK and there are many actions being taken to address the issue.

"We continue to work with our haulier supplier to minimise any future disruption and to ensure efficient and effective deliveries to serve our customers.

"We are prioritising deliveries to motorway service areas, major trunk roads and sites with material demand and seeking to minimise the duration of stock outs.”
