BP offers free fuel to front line workers

Fuel giant BP will be giving free fuel to front-line vehicles as part of its drive to support those working through the Covid crisis.

BP will allow emergency services vehicles that carry a BP Plus or Allstar fuel card to fill up for free at any of their 1,200 retail sites across the UK.

This means that ambulance drivers, police, fire emergency services, blood transportation and NHS Trust non-emergency vehicles can top up their tanks at no charge.

The initiative is expected to run from now until the end of March 2021.

Bernard Looney, BP chief executive said: “A year into this crisis, it continues to take a heavy toll on our neighbours and our nation.

"These latest initiatives use our resources and reach across the country to support essential services and the people who are working around the clock to keep us all safe.

"The UK has been our home for over a century and we feel it’s important that we do our bit to help.”

As well as free fuel, BP is offering free use of its BP Pulse charging points to help keep electric emergency vehicles on the road.

BP ran a similar programme last year, supplying more than 10 million litres of free fuel to front line workers across Britain.

Earlier this week, BP announced it would be teaming up with Deliveroo to donate a quarter of a million Marks & Spencer meals to the Lunch for Lifesavers initiative.

Sandwiches, drinks and snacks will be distributed to NHS staff and volunteers at vaccination centres across Britain.
