Bozak's goal stands up as Blues beat Predators, 2-0

ST. LOUIS _ In a heavyweight, knock-down, drag-out fight between two teams battling in the Central Division standings, the Blues landed the game's vital scoring punch, a third-period goal by Tyler Bozak that ultimately gave the Blues a 2-0 win over Nashville on Tuesday night at Enterprise Center.

Alex Pietrangelo added an empty-net goal with four seconds left for the final score.

The win moved the Blues five points in back of Nashville in the Central and the Blues have played three fewer games.

It was the fifth shutout of the season for rookie Blues goalie Jordan Binnington.

The Blues dominated the game but couldn't score against a Predators team playing its second game in as many nights. The Blues outshot Nashville by a two-to-one margin but both teams found posts and both goalies, Jordan Binnington and Juuse Saros, were stellar in goal.

Bozak got the goal, his 10th of the season, just after a Blues power play ended. Vladimir Tarasenko had kept a clearance attempt by Nashville in at the bluelilne as time wound down on the penalty. The Blues eventually got the puck to Bozak to Saros' right and six seconds after the penalty ended, he fired the puck between Saros' legs.
