Boyzlife all set for Blyth Live with free festival expected to attract 15,000 music fans on its weekend return

Fans of Boyzone and Westlife are in for a treat this weekendwhen Boyzlife - made up from a star from each - perform for free in Northumberland.

Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden, who shot to fame in the respective boybands in the late nineties and now share the stage as Boyzlife, will be the headline act at Blyth Live Festival as it makes its return on Saturday, with around 15,000 music lovers expected to attend. The free festival on Blyth beach has been cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic but is all set for its big-scale comeback with a family beach party featuring street theatre and food outlets.

Also on the festival line-up are singer songwriter Imogen, folk rockers Candi’s Dog, party band, Emerald Thieves, The Rock Choir, cover band Nelson Park, sixties sounds from F.A.B., an acoustic show from four-piece Work in Progress, and the Jen Stevens Duo. Acting as compere at the event - and no doubt adding plenty humour to proceedings - will be comedian and BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Steffen Peddie.

Boyzlife have proved a hit in the region on their previous visits and Duffy, who with Boyzone produced six number one hits including No Matter What, and McFadden - who enjoyed similar success with Westlife with 12 UK and Ireland number ones such as Flying Without Wings - will no doubt draw big crowds once again. The duo recently completed a sell-out UK tour and their Blyth date is being seen as a coup for the event.

The festival is funded by Blyth Town Council and Coun Adrian Cartie has said the chart-toppers' succcess means this is "a major concert for the town". He added: "Everyone will be able to sing their hearts out at Blyth beach.” Warren Taylor, Blyth Town Council Mayor said; “Once again, we are putting Blyth on the map by attracting top quality acts to the town and thanks to the Town Council, there is no charge to the public for what will be a great family day out.”

Parking also will be available free and drivers should follow the event parking signs. The festival will get under way at 10am with the first act due on stage at noon. Boyzone are set to perform around 8pm before the day-long entertainment wraps up around 9pm.
