Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in an alleyway in yet another knife killing in London.

The two boys, aged just 15 and 16, were detained following what police described as a “brutal” slaying in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The victim was found with knife injuries in Albert Place, Tottenham, after London Ambulance Service were called to reports of a stabbing there at 1.20am.

He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead less than an hour later, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Although officers believe they know who he is, formal identification is yet to take place. Enquiries are underway to trace and notify his family.

The suspected attackers were detained on Sunday.

DCI Glen Lloyd said: “While we have made good progress with two arrests, I still need to hear from anyone who has information that could assist with my investigation.

“At the heart of this, we have an innocent young man who has been brutally murdered just days before Christmas.

“If you are reluctant to speak with police directly, please share what you know with Crimestoppers anonymously.”

More than 120 people have been killed in London so far this year, amid calls for the government to tackle a nationwide rise in violence and record levels of knife crime.

The capital is on course for the highest number of killings in almost a decade and the total for 2018 surpassed the figure for the total for 2017 back in November.
