A boy who was spotted with a 'suspicious' man is safe and well, with police saying the report was a 'false call with good intent'.
Greater Manchester Police published an appeal to trace the pair yesterday (Sunday).
The man, described as eastern European, was captured on CCTV carrying two black bin bags as he was walking with a boy, said to be aged six or seven.
A passer-by, who saw the man and boy in the Angel Meadow area just to the north east of Manchester city centre, reportedly heard the youngster saying: "You're not my dad - leave me alone."

But police have now confirmed that the boy is safe and well.
He is with his father, they said.
In a statement issued on Monday morning, a GMP spokesperson said: "An appeal was earlier made after a report of a suspicious man with a child.
"Enquiries have been followed up and we can report that this ultimately was a false call made with good intent.
"The boy is safe and well with his father and has been visited by officers.
"Thank you for your concern and sharing our appeal."
