Boy, three, found wandering the streets alone 'without shoes or coat'

A three-year-old boy was found wandering a busy Liverpool street on his own.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called out to the junction of Smithdown Road and Upper Parliament Street at around 9.35am today to reports that a child was alone.

A member of the public who spotted the little boy and contacted police is also understood to have taken to social media to describe the little boy as being found "without shoes or a coat on".

Officers returned the boy to his home address and the force said he is "safe and well."

A police spokesperson said to the ECHO : "We were contacted at 9.35am today (Thursday) to reports a three year-old boy had been found alone on Smithdown Road/Upper Parliament Street.

"Patrols attended and the boy was found to be safe and well returned to his home address nearby."
