Boy taken to hospital and police close road after crash in Bolton

A boy was taken to hospital after a crash in Bolton.

Police taped off Deane Church Lane, Deane, near the junction of Willows Lane, at around 3.50pm yesterday (Thursday) following the crash.

Paramedics were called and the youngster was briefly treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Witnesses said he looked to be in his early teens and was supported by people passing by who stopped to help while the ambulance was called.

One eyewitness, who lives near the location of the crash, said she had seen people pointing in the direction of the car involved, which appeared to have been driven away.

"It looked like he was trying to cross the road," she said.

"When I looked out of the window I had heard loud cries. I think I saw the car but it drove away.

"He was crying a lot. People came and they were helping him and pointing to where the car had gone."

Deane Church Lane was reopened some time after the incident (MEN)

The extent of the boy's injuries is currently unknown.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.51pm. We sent an ambulance and an advanced paramedic.

"We took one patient to hospital."

The road was closed off for some time causing traffic delays throughout the afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
