Boy taken to hospital after entering water in Scarva

A boy has been taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in the water in a Co Down village.

The emergency services were called to Scarva at around 3.30pm on Monday, after receiving reports regarding concerns for the safety of a boy who had gone into the water at Canal Court.

The Air Ambulance was also in attendance, along with the police and fire service.

The boy was taken to hospital for further treatment and the extent of his injuries are not yet known.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report for a concern for the safety of a teenage boy in the Canal Court area of Scarva on Monday afternoon (July 19).

"It was reported that at around 3.30pm, a boy had gone into the water in the area.

"Officers attended the scene along with other emergency services colleagues, including the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and Air Ambulance NI.

"The male has been taken to hospital, there are no further details at this stage."
