Boy taken to hospital after being hit by car in Oldham

A boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Oldham.

Emergency services were called to the collision on Ashton Road East in Failsworth at around 8.45am this morning (Monday).

The boy was walking when he was hit by a car, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed.

He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital from the scene.

His injuries are not believed to be serious.

A spokesperson for NWAS said: "We sent two resources to the scene at Ashton Road East - an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.

"We have taken a patient to the Royal Oldham Hospital.

"The patient was a boy.

"His injuries are not believed to be serious at this time."

The M.E.N. has contacted Greater Manchester Police for a comment.

Ashton Road East was closed off in both directions following the incident.

The road was blocked at the junction with Church Street.

It was opened again at around 9.30am, according to Transport for Greater Manchester.
