Boy taken to hospital after being hit by car in Mansfield

A 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car while riding his bike.

The teenager was riding along Westfield Lane, Mansfield, when he was knocked to the ground at the crossing with Chester Street.

The incident happened at around 8.40am on Wednesday, December 1 and is believed to have involved a black car.

Police say the vehicle is thought to have left the scene a short time afterwards.

The boy was treated in hospital for minor injuries to his leg, neck and stomach.

PC Lisa McNeil, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thankfully the victim in this case was not seriously injured but it goes without saying that this was a frightening and upsetting incident for him.

“We believe the driver briefly got out of their vehicle to check on the victim but left the scene shortly afterwards.

“We would like to speak with them at the earliest opportunity and urge them to get in touch as soon as possible.

“We would also like to hear from other people who witnessed the incident, particularly anyone who may have dashcam footage of what happened.”
