Parents warned about sick 'Game of Death' after footage emerges online

A boy "strangled" a friend for a dare in an alarming new craze sweeping the internet - dubbed the "Game of Death".

The prank involves teenagers strangling mates until they lose consciousness - while another pal records the act.

The footage is often then posted on social media.

In the latest stunt, which was filmed in Granada, south Spain, one young boy fell to the ground semi-unconscious and convulsed.

Fortunately, he recovered but police who have seen the video are very concerned.

"If he who plays with fire, can end burned, he who plays with death, can end up killing someone. Leaving a brain without oxygen can cause seizures, irreparable brain damage and even death.

"This is not a game nor does it have any grace," Policia Granada wrote online.

Officers have visited the school, which too has warned its pupils.

It's believed the boys in this instance were aged 14 or 15.

And other schools in and around Granada are being urged to warn their pupils about the disturbing trend.

Parents are being asked to check their childrens' phones to see if they have participated in the dare and alert them of its risks.

A police bulletin says: "Alert! This morning we have been in a #Granada IES because we have detected minors recording with their mobile phone and uploading the #MuegoDeLaMuerte challenge (to hang someone until unconsciousness).

"Fathers and mothers, check your phones and warn them of the danger!"
