Boy rushed to hospital for brain scan after being viciously assaulted on DART by gang armed with knives

A teenage boy was taken to hospital to have a brain scan after he was viciously assaulted by five men armed with knives on a southside DART yesterday evening.

The frightening attack took place at around 7:30pm on a train that was travelling between Dalkey and Killiney stations.

The victim, who is understood to be a Transition Year student, was set upon by the thugs after they demanded money from him.

He was taken to St Vincent's Hospital following the sickening attack.

A fellow patient who was in the A&E Department when the young lad was receiving treatment told Dublin Live: "The victim said the five lads wanted money and had knives.

"When he didn’t have anything, they battered him. He got a brain scan but was fine."

Dublin Live has contacted gardai and Irish Rail for comment.
