A 10-year-old boy ran home to his parents after a man in a van pulled over and 'asked him for help'.
Cheshire Constabulary said officers were called to Cherry Blossom Road in Beechwood, Runcorn, shortly after 2pm yesterday.
The boy had been playing outside when a small white van with two black stripes on the bonnet and roof pulled up at about 12.30pm.
A force spokesman said the vehicle's driver, who was described as a man, approximately 6ft tall, around 35-years-old and wearing white clothes, then asked the boy for help.

The youngster ignored him, ran home and reported the incident to his parents.
Police said there was no attempt to "grab the boy".
The ECHO contacted the constabulary with regards to the matter following a post from a member of the public on social media.
Chief Inspector Leeroy Moss, of Runcorn Local Policing Unit, said: “We understand that there are likely to be some concerns from parents regarding this incident and I would like to reassure people that the driver of the van did not attempt to grab the boy and at no point was there any physical contact between him and the child.
