Boy racer stopped in his tracks by police who took car off him after nuisance driving

A boy racing menace was stopped in his tracks by police after weeks of nuisance driving across Wirral.

Police from Wallasey seized the white Ford Fiesta ST, in West Kirby, on Sunday night after people reported the driver a number of times.

The car was taken from the driver under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act which allows the police to give drivers a warning if they are reported to have used their vehicle in a manner which causes "alarm, distress or annoyance".

If reported to have done so again within a year the police have the right to confiscate the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police posted to the Wirral Police Facebook page to confirm the seizure and to encourage members of the public to continue reporting nuisance drivers.

They said: "E Block Response officers from Wallasey have seized this vehicle in West Kirby this evening following it being sighted being used in an anti-social manner.

"Members of the public reported it to have been a regular occurrence over the past few weeks. Seized under Section 59 Police Reform Act.

"To report anti-social behaviour, call 101, visit  www.merseyside.police.uk, or message Merseyside Police Contact Centre.

Followers of the police page praised officers for their work and thanked them for taking the car of the roads.

A number of people commented stating where they had seen the car driving in an anti-social way.

One man said: "That one been at Victoria Park, Rock Ferry using the road as it’s own speed way."

Another added: "'I've seen this car driving fast along the prom."

A woman, who lives in the area, also said: "Great work! Well done. Streets are a little safer now."
