A 14-year-old boy was caught driving his mother's Audi A1.

The boy was stopped by police at 3am today in Wigan after traffic officers noticed the vehicle only had daytime running lights.

Police said the boy "had taken his mum's car" and that he had "thought about not stopping".

The car did stop however and a passenger is said to have "made off".
