A boy has been quizzed by Gardai after a Dublin Bus was stolen at its depot and driven dangerously around the capital before smashing into another car in a bizarre collision.
The double decker was nicked from the company's Harristown station and set off on a reckless joyride around Liffey Valley and the surrounding areas on Sunday evening.
The cunning thief whizzed up and down the Ballymun Road for about an hour before losing control of the bus and colliding with a car just after 4pm.
Thankfully nobody was injured in the terrifying smash and during officers' ongoing investigations, a young boy presented himself at a Garda Station in relation to the incident.
A source told Dublin Live: "The Dublin Bus was stolen last Sunday evening from the Depot in Harristown.
"It was driven around for about an hour but crashed into a car on the Ballymun Road."
A spokeswoman for Dublin Bus told Dublin Live that an internal investigation is underway following the incident.
She said: "Dublin Bus confirms that an incident took place on Sunday evening (30 August) involving a bus from our Harristown Depot.
"One individual was on the bus at the time of the incident.
"The vehicle was out of service and no passengers were onboard."
She added: "The matter is under investigation by An Garda Siochana and Dublin Bus has also commenced an internal investigation."
A spokesman for the Gardai also said that they had launched an investigation.
He said: "We are investigating the theft of a bus that occurred at Harristown Bus Depot on 30 August at 4.30pm, which was later involved in a collision near Liffey Valley.
"A male youth attended a Garda Station in relation to this incident."
He added: "No persons were injured in the incident and investigations are ongoing."
