Boy ‘lured into a trap and beaten with iron bars’ in vicious Dublin attack

A teenage boy is in hospital with serious injuries after a vicious assault which left him with a broken arm and leg.

It is believed the 15-year-old was lured to the location in Inchicore where a gang was waiting for him.

It is understood those involved in the attack were not much older than the victim.

The assault was carried out on Sunday evening when the boy, from Tallaght, arrived in Inchicore and it is thought he believed he was meeting a girl.

Gardai suspect iron bars and other weapons were used to beat the boy.

He was rushed to Crumlin Children’s Hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries which are thought to include broken ribs.

No arrests have been made yet in the investigation.

Gardai believe some of the attackers may have been caught on CCTV during the assault or when they were on their way to the location where it took place.

Investigators are also looking into the possibility the assault was set up on social media.

A garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai are investigating an assault incident that occurred in the Saint Vincent Street West area of Inchicore on 14/03/2021 at approximately 5pm.

“A male youth, aged 15 years, received serious injuries following an assault reportedly involving a group of youths.

“He was taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital for treatment.

“No arrests have been made at this stage. Investigations are ongoing.”
