Boy knew exactly what to do after finding cash on Sports Direct floor

A schoolboy who stumbled upon some money on the floor of Sports Direct was praised for his honesty in handing it in.

Natalie Lester was shopping with her seven-year-old son Ollie in St Helens on Tuesday when he came across a £20 note lying on the floor.

Natalie said her son immediately told her what had happened and handed the money into staff in the store in hope of getting it back to its rightful owner.

Natalie, 34, told the ECHO: "It was £20 but at this time of year and with everything with the pandemic, I just know how money tight is.

"When he found it the first thing he did was alert me and wanted it to be handed in.

"We discussed whilst waiting at the till the importance of not taking any money that doesn't belong to us and he handed in and is really hoping for the owner to come forward.

"It made me feel really proud because to a little child that's a lot of money.

"It just makes me feel like I'm bringing him up right to know right from wrong and it was just lovely to see him proud of himself because he knew he did something good handing that money in."

Natalie shared what happened in a community group on Facebook in a bid to try and find the person who the money belonged to.

Over 140 people liked the post, with many commenting to praise Ollie for his honesty.

One woman said: "Amazing well done young man xxx."

Another said: "Good on you both for being so honest."

A third added: "Well done little man."
