A 17-year-old boy has been jailed for nine and a half years after stabbing the same man in two separate Bristol attacks.
The teenager first stabbed his victim on Byron Street, Redfield, on October 23 last year, inflicting wounds to his upper body and hip.
He was charged with affray and possessing a blade, but attacked his victim a second time before appearing in court.
In the second incident, which happened on May 18, he knifed the 19-year-old in the chest at the Three Blackbirds pub on Stapleton Road, Easton.
He was again arrested and later charged with the assault, following which he was remanded into custody.
The teenager last month pleaded guilty to two counts of GBH and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon and was sentenced today (Friday, November 29) at Bristol Crown Court.
'Fortunate to have survived'
Detective Constable James Organ said: “The sentence handed out today by the judge reflects the extremely serious nature of the two incidents.
“The victim in this case is very fortunate to have survived both attacks.
“We take all incidents such as this very seriously and will always pursue offenders robustly."
Chief Inspector Zoe Chegwyn, force lead for knife crime, said: “Knife crime continues to be an issue nationwide, and within our force area, and we are using a number of approaches to help reduce the number of knives on our streets from knife sweeps to education initiatives with retailers and surrender bins.
“But we also know that police enforcement alone can’t solve the problem which is why we are also committed to working with schools, and in communities, to educate and engage young people about the potentially devastating consequences of carrying a knife.
