Boy 'injured' in trespassing incident on live Glasgow railway line

A boy has reportedly been injured in the north of Glasgow after an incident on a railway line.

Reports online claim that a young man is being treated by emergency services after the incident at the line near to Colston Road in Eastfield .

ScotRail said that power has been cut off from the live line following the incident, with some services between the city and the capital cut off.

Police and fire services have both been in attendance and the injured boy is now under emergency care.

In a statement on Twitter, ScotRail said: “We have had reports of a trespasser in the Eastfield area which is delaying services.

“Trains running via Croy will be cancelled, delayed or revised as a result of this.

“As soon as we have more information we will update you.

“The person is now in the care of emergency services however, the power to the overhead wires has had to be turned off from Queen Street to Croy.

“We are working as quickly as possible to get services running again.

“Staff continue to carry out checks on the line meaning power to the overhead wires remains off. Services between Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh/Alloa and Springburn - Partick will be delayed/cancelled as a result of this.”

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
