Boy in foster care gets 5,000 adoption inquiries after heartbreaking appeal

A nine-year-old boy has received more than 5,000 adoption inquiries after he made a heartbreaking plea to find a loving family.

Jordan has spent six years in foster care and currently lives in a group home, having been separated from his brother Braison after he was adopted last year.

During an appearance on a local news segment last week, Jordan made an emotional plea to find a home of his own and the Department of Human Services in Oklahoma has since been inundated with applications.

Jordan said if he could go anywhere in the world it would be an adoption party or to a new home, and said the only wish he has is to find a family.

"Mum and dad. Or just mum. Or just dad. I don't really care," he told KFOR.

"The reason it's important is so I can have some people to talk to anytime I need to."

After adding that he was hoping to find a family to ride bikes with and eat macaroni and cheese, his permanency planner has now revealed they have been flooded with inquires.

"I'm in the process of reading through those profiles to select a family to try to move forward with," said Christopher Marlowe, who works for the Department of Human Services.

He said that Jordan had "been through a whole lot compared to most of our kid" and added: "We've had a couple of families that expressed interest in adoption but after we did disclosures, the families decided that it wasn't the right fit for them or their family at this time, so we’ve had some difficulty finding placement for him."

However, with so many people now coming forward and a "staggering" number of applications landing on his desk, Christopher is hopeful Jordan will be part of a loving family within six months.

The department has said they've kept Jordan's viral fame a secret as they want to be careful not to give him false hope having been let down previously.

Staff hope to find him a home close to his brother in Oklahoma so they can stay in contact and the story has melted the hearts of people on social media.

One said: "Pray he finds a home such a sweet boy! I wish to take him but I’m Canada - please someone adopt this poor boy who just wants a family! Sad he’s alone, his brother's got a home not him. Breaks my heart."

Another wrote: "I think we sometimes forget about these kids who just want a family. Adoption is a great decision. If you can take care of a child, open your heart and do so."
