Boy gives presents to doctors and nurses at Ulster Hospital in incredible Christmas Day gesture

A special needs assistant is appealing for help finding the name of a young boy who delivered presents to the doctors, nurses and staff at a hospital on Christmas Day.

Emma Crossan, from Gilnahirk, Co Down contacted Belfast Live to say she was moved by the boy's actions at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, east Belfast and wanted him to get the recognition he deserved.

She said: "I had to go into hospital on Christmas Eve and was there throughout Christmas Day.

"I was waiting outside the nurse's station to be sent home but I was still quite unwell so was sent back to my room to stay another evening.

"Then when I looked up the corridor, this little boy and his mum walked into our ward with loads of little Santa bags.

"They walked to the nurse's station and his mother explained that 'he didn't realise that all the nurses and staff in hospital had to work on Christmas Day, so he raised money to buy all the staff in the wards boxes of chocolates'."

The kind gesture raised the spirits of those working in the ward, Emma says.

She added: "The staff seemed overwhelmed by the kindness of the boy's action and thanked him.

"We all thought it was so honourable, on Christmas morning, for this wee boy to come away from his toys to come up and make this gesture."

Now, Emma is looking for this little boy to be given the credit he deserves for his actions.

"I just wished I'd picked up his name," she says.

"I would say he must be from the area if he was visiting the Ulster Hospital.

"I'd guess that he was about five or six years old and I'd just love him to get the recognition he deserves for what he did.

"It would be lovely."
